Mummies and warriors
Painting continues and I have added two new units to my Oathmark forces. The first is a unit of 20 Mummies. These were fairly far back on my painting schedule but then I watched an Oathmark battle report from the Ash and Stone Youtube channel and decided that my army needed ghouls. These are clearly not ghouls, far too slow to begin with, but I didn’t have enough of the models that I wanted to use. As it turns out I do have 20 of the Tomb Jackals but I had already painted the Mummies.
These had been primed a bone yellow by the original owner so I drybrushed the wrappings through a few different shades until I was using an off-white. I then used some Army Painter Speed Paints to add the blue skirts and the golden metal jewelry. The white was done using Army Painter white but I watered it down and did it in several layers. It actually turned out better than I thought it would.
These are the first of the North Star plastic Dwarf Heavy Infantry models. These were assembled as Dwarf Warriors for Oathmark. I have another unit of 10 assembled as Linebreakers. In front is one of the metal Dwarf Champions from North Star. When I was priming these models the white primer beaded and so the Army Painter Speed Paint I used didn’t actually work correctly. I had to add a wash of Nuln Oil mixed with Agrax Earthshade to get some depth to the figures. The primer also seems to have filled the details in a bit. Happily the Linebreakers don’t seem to suffer from the same issues.
My hands (and other joints) are also not helping to contribute to a better paint job. I have been having some real issues being able to control my brushes as well as being able to sit long enought to paint. You can’t spell ‘paint’ without ‘pain’ as it happens. So these look quite rushed. Because they are quite rushed. I would rather have painted minis on the table though so I will take rushed any day.
The metal Dwarf champion model looks quite nice but it doesn’t fit in with the plastic models. They have far more armour on them than the champion does. The plastic sprue has a few optional parts that could make an interesting champion. So perhaps with the addition of a ’tactical rock’ I can make a champion that matches the Warriors.
Next up are the Dwarf Linebreakers and then perhaps the Revenant Linebreakers.
