More Oathmark minis finished
Over the weekend I finished painting and basing two more units for my Oathmark forces. The largest addition was a unit of 20 Max Mini Tomb Jackals which I will be using as Ghouls.
These were all painted with Army Painter Speedpaint. I missed a spot here and there on all of them and I have moved in another light to help me see those areas while I paint. The skin colour is a mix of two of the Speedpaint colours. I didn’t have an appropriate blue for the skin and I didn’t want to go to the store and buy a new bottle of blue just for the skin. That is how you end up with another ten or twelve bottles of paint.
Also painted were ten of the North Star plastic Dwarf Heavy Infantry and one of the metal Dwarf Champions.
These show the same issue I had with the previous models in that the metallic speedpaint didn’t actually work correctly. It created a almost even tone across the models. The Speedpaint worked correctly in the bears and on the faces so it isn’t an issue with the material. I have another ten of the models which will be assembled and painted at some point and when I do them I will use a standard metallic paint on them.
While I was basing these models I also based:
- 3 Ogres
- 3 Trolls
- Mounted Orc General
- 10 Orc Cavalry
- Orc chariot
- Goblin chariot/pump wagon
- Undead Necromancer
- Undead Archer standard
These were already painted and just needed to be based. The Orc cavalry were on a single large base for Kings of War and so they were removed from that and then put on 25 x 50mm bases from Warbases. I used the same materials that I have been using for my Oathmark minis. The only exception is that I bought two new colours of flock this weekend so that the ‘grass’ I am putting down isn’t a monotone. I like there to be some variety in the flock I use to try to make it look more natural.
I have updated the Oathmark army page to now include a separate ‘Orc & Goblin’ table. I have quite a few Orc and Goblin minis that need a small touchup and some basing to be able to be used for Oathmark. One narrative element I am thinking of including in my games is that the Undead initially hire Orc and Goblin mercenaries and are using their death-energy to bring back the Revenants, Skeletons and monsters from their tombs. So as the mercenaries are destroyed the army adds more and more Undead models.
I have been distracted lately by ghouls and mummies and so I will try to focus on getting some of the other units on my lists finished. Next up are the 15 Revenant Warriors and after that I will start on the Dwarf Spearmen.
