More Oathmark Dwarves

It is a bit on the warm side here in Edmonton this week but luckily my basement is nice and cool and so I made my way downstairs and assembled and painted some more Dwarf minis.

Gunners

Green Eyed Monster Gunners

Originally the plan was to build 10-15 Dwarf Archers using the Dwarf Light Infantry plastic figures. Sadly The Sentry Box was out of stock (something I kept forgetting for more than a week) so I will need to substitute my older metal Dwarven gunners. These were originally produced by Green Eyed Monster but are now available from Checkpoint Miniatures. At some point I will need to make an order as I will want to expand the gunners to a unit of 20.

I painted the first batch of models some time ago and I don’t even recall what paint I used for the yellow on them. Happily I was able to mix together a close enough match using some of the Army Painter speed paints. One of the things I really like about the speed paints is that I can mix colours. Very handy and something I have done a lot when painting armour to help add some colour to models.

The models are clearly not archers and so I don’t really see how I can justify them having the ‘Fire Over’ ability in Oathmark. I may massage their stats some and try to create a unit with blackpowder weapons instead.

Warriors and Linebreakers

plastic Warriors

I assembled a unit of 10 Dwarf Warriors and then looked at my army list and realised that I wasn’t going to be using them. Not a major issue as I can always add them at a later date.

plastic Linebreakers

After that small mixup I did put together the 10 Linebreakers I am going to be using. Both units went together easily and the Linebreakers were much easier to put together than other models I’ve assembled that had two handed weapons. The North Star plastics have a weapon arm and then a seperate arm with an open hand that you align when assembling. No annoying parts requiring precise alignment or positioning. I put the arms on the Warrior models first and then the heads but I placed the heads first when I did the Linebreakers. Some of the arm combos are tight to the torso and the heads all have large beards. Placing the beards first avoided having a situation where there was no space to fit the beard between the arms and the torsos.

Assembly done

So with these units done I have assembled all of the units and characters that I want to use in the first 2000 point armies I have planned out. Now it is on to the painting!
